NAME – LITERARY NAMING – OPENING NEW SEMANTIC PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

The examination of personal names helps to understand the complexity of features involved, namely those that are being substituted by a single nominal element. According to Roland Barthes, what is impossible to write down anymore is the Proper name. Thus, the object of the present research is the proper name discourse that can be launched in the Hungarian literature in Vojvodina, i.e. the theoretical problem of the separability of the proper name. The research extends to the examination of the proper names appearing in the title, literary naming, inter-textual and inter-medial samples, mythological aspects, telling names, name and identity, as well as to autobiographical concerns and to the cultural context. From the viewpoint of the psychology of creativity, it is important to observe the individual and socio-cultural background influencing literary naming, the emerging sociolinguistic questions and the attitudes and strategies of naming and the motivation behind it. In Vojvodina, as a multicultural space, linguistic contact is also expected to influence literary naming. Literary naming is also an issue of stylistic interest, therefore the connotation of a name, its aesthetic and metaphorical aspects and its ability to create an atmosphere in the literary work are also relevant. The linguistic analysis of the personal name corpus used covers the classification and analysis of the name origin, its phonetic make-up, as well as its components. The examination primarily focuses on linguistic issues in a corpus of contemporary Hungarian literature in Vojvodina.
