EMPROS!/GO ON!

Abstract

The study analyses the theatre production titled Medea Circles, first presented at the Újvidéki Színház, (Novi Sad Theatre) on March 30, 2005. The director was Gábor Tompa, an internationally renowned artist, and head of the Hungarian State Theater in Cluj, Romania. The play is based on the text of Euripides, however, it renounces language, and by using the musicality of Ancient Greek interjections concentrates on the relationships and antagonisms among the characters in a specific theatrical scenery. The structure of the study follows the Philther-methodology in perfor- mance analysis, with references to literature on Euripides’s tragedy, as well as press clippings and reviews of the production.
