The experience of foreignness in Agota Kristof ’s oeuvre

Abstract

The study examines Agota Kristof’s less well-known works and genres. First, it seeks an answer to the question of what other genres the writer created in addition to her well-known works (The Notebook, Trilogy), and second, what themes and motifs were continuously present in her oeuvre regardless of genre. The permanence of alienation, loneliness, and homelessness can be observed in her poems, dramas, short stories, and short novels, and in fact, particular themes return again and again in several genres. In other words, the themes and motifs that Kristof wrote about in the volumes of the Trilogy, with which she gained world fame, are woven throughout her oeuvre.
